FIBC

Flexible containers (FIBC), also known as big bags or bulk bags, represent the most efficient solution for temporary storage and transportation of powders and granular products in bulk. These containers are also used for the storage and transport of dangerous goods.

FIBCs are tailor made for each customer, in order to be in compliance with the requirements of the packaged goods.

Flexible containers can be used for loading on any means of transport.

CHARACTERISTICS AND ADVANTAGES

Flexible containers (FIBC) are produced in four constructive types: type A and B without protection against electrostatic charge and type C and D with electrostatic charge protection.

  • Type A: FIBC made from non-conductive woven polypropylene bags (big bags) for packaging and transport of non-hazardous goods
  • Type B:  FIBC made from woven polypropylene fabrics that have a low breakdown voltage to prevent the occurrence of highly energetic propagating brush discharges that can ignite a dust-air mixture
    • can be used for packaging and transport of flammable and combustible products
    • there must be no gas or other flammable agents around the containers
  • Type C: FIBC made from electrically conductive polypropylene and discharging electrostatic energy in the ground via a grounding point
    • can be used for packaging and transport of flammable and combustible products
    • can be safely used even if there are gases or other flammable agents in containers
    • the connection to ground during filling and discharging is critical to the safe use of this type of FIBC
  • Type D: FIBC made from antistatic and static dissipative fabrics designed to safely prevent the occurrence of incendiary sparks, brush discharges and propagating brush discharges
    • can be used for packaging and transport of flammable and combustible products
    • can be safely used even if there are gases or other flammable agents in containers
    • there is no need for a connection from the bulk bag to the ground

Flexible type B containers, along with antistatic liners, can be used for packing and transporting dairy products.
